The world is a different place today. There are 195 countries in the world and Queen Elizabeth was head of state for 15 of them. There are also a total of 56 countries in the Commonwealth, with roots going back to the British Empire. According to the Commonwealth website, 2.5 billion people in the world live in the Commonwealth

This hit me much harder than I would have guessed. I feel a sense of loss, and maybe even fear, I didn’t realize I’d feel when she died. After all, I’m an American, and she was a British Monarch. Why should it bother me so much? (Update: I just heard this statistic. The USA is 246 years old. With 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth reigned for almost 1/3 of our existence!)
As we all know, she was on the throne for 70 years and that kind of reign leaves a mark, a symbol of stability. Whatever else was happening in the world, she was there. As our world went through so much over the past 70 years, she was there. Now she’s not and that’s scary. What will the world be without her?
Whatever you may think of the British Royal family and the past British empire, Queen Elizabeth II reigned with dedication, duty, patriotism and love for her country. She did it for 70 years, never wavering, working until 2 days before she died. That is rare in our world today and something I will always remember and respect.

QEII’s death represents the end of a long era, love it or hate it. I was surprised by my own feelings of loss and nostalgia, not overly happy that Charles is King, but life moves on without our approval or acceptance. The best meme(in my opinion) was one where she was walking away from us, hand in hand with Paddington Bear. That one got me.
I love that one too. I posted it on my Facebook page. I got a bit choked up when I saw the procession to Westminster.
🥰🤩 me too.
The whole world is in mourning.
It is indeed. 🙏
