Today I’m sharing a prayer which helps give our children strength to love their enemies. Loving our enemies is a difficult thing to ask of anyone. However, in his sermon on the mount Jesus said:
You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies…
Matthew 5:43
It it is similar with THE GOLDEN RULE, which is basically the same across all religions. The basic gist of this rule is treat others, everyone, even enemies, the way you wish to be treated… love your neighbor as yourself.
The words in this prayer could easily be changed from “my children” to “myself” or “my family” and “give them strength” to “give me/us strength”. Change the words to fit your situation.
